Urban Affairs Coalition’s Community & Economic Development Committee releases
2019 Foreclosure Prevention Resource Guide
PHILADELPHIA, PA – On Tuesday, January 4, 2020, the Community and Economic Development (CED) Department of the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) released their latest version of the Foreclosure Prevention Resource Guide – the only resource that provides a comprehensive look at the services and options for those facing mortgage and tax foreclosure in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties.
The 2020 Edition of the Foreclosure Prevention Resource Guide was researched, written, and edited by the UAC Foreclosure Prevention Task Force, an initiative through the CED Department to promote awareness around foreclosure and mitigation strategies. Since 2007, over eight versions of the guidebook have been published to include more relevant and topical information. More than 14,000 copies have been printed and distributed throughout the Greater Philadelphia region – to legislative offices, housing counseling agencies, food cupboards, community development corporations, nonprofit legal clinics, and other client-facing organizations.
“In 2007, community leaders and bankers saw troubling conditions arising from subprime mortgages. In response, CED formed a Foreclosure Prevention Task Force that led to a set of 14 recommendations to guide the City’s response to the emerging crisis. One of these recommendations was to create a guide to help professionals and homeowners understand and prevent housing foreclosure,” said UAC President and CEO Sharmain Matlock-Turner. “Today we are pleased to provide you with the newest edition of the Foreclosure Prevention Resource Guide, another tool in the fight for economic justice.”
Thanks to a generous grant from Santander Bank, 1,500 copies of the 2020 resource guide have been printed and will be distributed over the next two months to local agencies and nonprofits.
“We are thankful for Santander’s continued partnership for the 2020 Foreclosure Prevention Resource Guide,” said Jojy Varghese, Director of the CED Department at the Urban Affairs Coalition. “Santander remains a critical partner on our Foreclosure Prevention Task Force, and continues to be a great resource to our department and overall community, as strong advocates for strengthening the foreclosure prevention system in Philadelphia.”
For those agencies and Greater Philadelphia residents that are able to access the resource guide online, the newest version can be downloaded free of charge by submitting your email below.
