Mission Statement: Our mission is to bring capital to communities by building bridges between low– and moderate-income areas and mainstream financial institutions.
CED COMMITTEE
The Urban Affairs Coalition’s Community and Economic Development (CED) Committee is composed of 55-65 mid- to upper-level representatives of banks, community development organizations, bank regulatory agencies, housing counseling services, intermediary institutions, and government agencies with a common interest in community reinvestment and development in low- and moderate-income communities in the five-county Philadelphia area.
The CED Committee provides a forum for discussing current issues and strategies, forging multi-sector partnerships that address those issues, and providing oversight and guidance to the Coalition in its role as coordinator of the implementation of those strategies.
FINANCIAL WELLNESS SUBCOMMITTEE
Mission Statement: The Financial Wellness Subcommittee aims to empower Philadelphians to achieve financial stability through innovative educational programming and advocate for more equitable financial management policies.
HOUSING AND FORECLOSURE PREVENTION SUBCOMMITTEE
Mission Statement: The Housing and Foreclosure Prevention Subcommittee seeks to increase homeownership rates and decrease foreclosure within Philadelphia, while also being a leading policy advocate to advise other working groups in the area.
IMPACT DEVELOPMENT ROUNDTABLE
Mission Statement: The Impact Development Roundtable meets to identify and elevate social impact outcomes within real estate development projects in Philadelphia.
EMPLOYER ASSISTED HOUSING
Goals: Enable employers to better recruit and retain employees by helping these employees become homeowners. Give employers another tool with which to improve the communities surrounding their facilities. Reduce barriers for employees to become homebuyers.
MORTGAGE DISPARITY SUBCOMMITTEE
Mission Statement: Our mission is to address issues of racial inequality in the approval and dispersal of mortgages, namely by addressing the short, intermediate and long-term solutions posed within the CED Committee, and work collectively towards these solutions.
